“Halo waste” is a mobile app that our apprentices are working on. The idea for a simple app to remind people of waste collection dates came from a member of our team and stemmed from frustration with existing solutions of this type. For research purposes, we used .NET MAUI for the project. .NET MAUI is a framework for creating cross-platform applications using a single common source in C#. What does this mean? That by writing an application once using the C# language, we can compile it natively to run on different platforms such as iOS, Android, macOS or Windows.
The first version of the app will allow you to manually set up waste collection appointments, notify you of collections via notifications and allow you to export appointments via QR codes. Launch soon!
